Catalyst Game Labs announces Leviathans Kickstarter coming this fall

August 28th, 2013
Catalyst Game Labs has announced that they’ll be running a Leviathans Kickstarter this fall in order to expand the game.

From the announcement:
We know how to make books. I like to joke that we can fall out of a bed and stand up with a book in our hands. However, with Leviathans we tackled a slew of new manufacturing items we’d never dealt with before. It would have been bad enough to have even one of those additional elements on the table, but we went ahead and tried to tackle a dozen at a time.
Where does that leave us since Leviathans published late last year? Well, it pretty much sold right out when it published. Which is fantastic! However, the way in which we packaged the game makes it unsustainable (again, that learning curve). As such, we need to find a new way to repackage the line so it can sustain itself.
We are currently looking at reshaping the entire line into something similar to how Sails of Glory/Wings of Glory (as well as Star Wars: X-Wing or Star Trek: Attack Wing) package and release their games and miniatures. This would in effect be a re-launch for the game.

Battlefront features Machine-Gun Platoon in winter gear for Flames of War

August 28th, 2013
Battlefront continues to take their break from the heat by showing off another winter-gear unit for Flames of War. This one’s the Machine-Gun Platoon.

From the article:
Heavy machine-guns (HMGs) are an important part of the company’s firepower. The Maxim HMG can be quickly moved forward on sleds to keep up with the rapidly moving Jääkari platoons.
These are ideal for mowing down waves of attackers. The Finnish HMG is the same as the Soviet Maksim but without the bulky gun-shield to slow it down.

A jaw-droppingly gorgeous display of Citadel miniatures

Within the perilous jungles of Lustria reside the ancient Lizardmen. Created by the Old Ones to enact their mysterious, ancient plans, the Lizardmen are enemies of Chaos, cold-blooded killers who harness reptilian titans and deadly magic to crush their foes.

Making Monsters

Over the aeons, the Lizardmen have developed or learned to harness the fearsome predators of Lustria, using them both as beasts of burden and as devastating shock troops in war. From the bloodthirsty roar of the Carnosaur to the undulating shriek of the Troglodon, the jungles are filled with the primordial sounds of reptilian monsters.
The fantastic new kits available to all Lizardmen collectors are a joy to assemble and paint, but if you need a bit of help or advice, the staff at your local Hobby Centre are always on hand.

The Spawnings of Lustria

The jungles of Lustria are bright and vibrant habitats, packed with lush undergrowth and filled with all manner of brightly coloured monsters, not to mention the Lizardmen themselves.
If you're planning on beginning your own collection of Lizardmen, make sure you visit your local Hobby Centre and have a chat with the staff - they're always ready to offer loads of great tips and techniques to help you get an army painted, and they might even have a few examples of their own Lizardmen spawnings that you can take inspiration from.

Tooth and Claw

With a brand new army book and so many new models to add to your collection, the Lizardmen offer a whole host of tactical options that you can exploit in your games of Warhammer, and the staff in your local Games Workshop can help you expand and develop your skills as a general. If you want to try out some new tactics or are struggling to get everything into your armylist, pop into the store and have a chat with the staff.

What's new or coming up at Warhammer World

Warhammer World is Games Workshop's HQ and visitor centre, so we have lots of events and activities and displays throughout the year, and you can delve into all of Warhammer World's details here.
This page is the quick way to find out about changes and highlights of what is going on at Warhammer World. Check our websitefor more details and join us on Facebook and Twitter to get the fastest updates.
  • You can now see our planned events and peak periods a few months ahead on our handy downloadable calendar. Extra details, new events and changes are added monthly, so keep checking to stay up to date! The calendar was last updated on August 1st, and goes right the way to the end of 2013.
  • In 2014 a new tram route will run right past Warhammer World, making it even easier for you to get to us! Currently there are different road closures planned over the forthcoming year, which will alter access to us in different ways. To help make your journey as easy as possible, check the changes and find our helpful redirection maps here.
  • Do you want to do something massive like field a whole company of Space Marines or the entirety of Waaagh! Gorbad, or stomp on your enemies with a Titan or an Emperor Dragon? Well, Legendary Battlefields is your chance! Over August 31st and September 1st we have two day long gigantic battles, where you'll find special rules, secret missions and the chance to change the fate of thousands!
  • There are some important changes to service between October 7th and 13th while we have our annual deep clean. Much of the Events Hall will be emptied out and roped off, with very limited gaming space, but barring one or two days, all of our other services will be available as usual. If you plan to visit us during that time, you may want to contact us to check what will be different to usual.
  • They say that a job well done is its own reward, but a truly great paintjob deserves to be shown off, so we'll be showcasing Steven Pennock's Space Marine Fire Lords and Tau Allies from 29th July to 13th September. Steven's crisp and clean army caught our eye at a Throne of Skulls event, so make sure you cast your eye over it in the Citadel Miniatures Hall.
  • Events at Warhammer World are about more than gaming, they're a chance to show off your miniatures to other hobbyists who'll appreciate your efforts. At May's Throne of Skulls, John's Tyranids won him the Artisan of Renown Award for Best Army, having caught our eye with his flawless conversions and amazingly smooth painting. From September 16th you can see John's brown horde of horror in the Citadel Miniatures Hall, just don't tap on the glass...
